Conflict of interpretations: Different ways of making sense of death in the Malvinas War

En este artículo veremos la forma en que ex combatientes y familiares de caídos de la Guerra de Malvinas encuentran formas muy distintas de entender las muertes en la guerra en el contexto de la última dictadura militar en la Argentina. En este sentido, veremos de qué manera, a través de diferentes marcos de interpretación, establecen modos específicos de relacionarse con los muertos y con la historia nacional.In this article we see the different ways in which families of veterans and fallen of the Falklands War gave meaning to the deaths in the war in the context of the military dictatorship in Argentina. A Virgem de Luján: fonte sagrada de legitimação dos heróis da Guerra das Malvinas.

La pérdida de un ser querido en una guerra, al igual que en las pérdidas extraordinarias en general, produce una ruptura en las formas habituales de enfrentar la muerte. En este artículo veremos la forma en que familiares de la organización Familiares de Caídos en Malvinas e Islas del Atlántico Sur se adaptaron a estos cambios reelaborando creativamente los modelos convencionales para entenderla, a través de un marco de interpretación de las pérdidas en donde la Virgen de Luján, fuente sagrada de legitimación de los muertos y los deudos, deviene para los familiares en el instrumento a través del cual se produce la comunión de todos los argentinos, tanto vivos como muertos, y se refuerza la identidad nacional.The loss of a loved one in war, as in the extraordinary losses in general, produces a break in the usual ways of facing death. In this article we will see how relatives of fallen in the Malvinas War were adapted to these changes in a creative way, reformulating conventional models to understand them, through a framework of interpretation of losses where the Virgin of Luján, sacred source of legitimation of the dead and the bereaved, becomes the instrument through which occurs the communion of all Argentineans, both living and dead, and strengthening the national identity.A perda de um ente querido numa guerra, como nas perdas extraordinárias em geral, produz uma ruptura nas formas usuais de encarar a morte. The Hero’s Body: the Unveiling of the Bust of a Soldier Fallen in the Malvinas War

En este artículo veremos de qué manera el descubrimiento del busto del soldado caído en la Guerra de Malvinas, Elbio Araujo, expresa un marco simbólico de interpretación de la muerte en la guerra de un grupo particular, y deviene para los familiares en un escenario de dramatización de la muerte que por la falta del cuerpo no pudo enfrentarse a través de sus formas habituales. Observaré al ritual desde el punto de vista de la performance, ya que nos permite ver de qué manera estamos refiriéndonos a experiencias vivenciadas en escenarios determinados, a través de los cuales es habitada la muerte de una persona, y significada de una manera particular. Así, veremos que a través del descubrimiento del busto, se sustituye la presencia del cuerpo ausente por otra materialidad y la puesta en escena actúa no sólo como un canal de comunicación a través del cual los deudos expresan al resto de la sociedad sus experiencias y los sentidos dados a la muerte en la guerra, sino que deviene también, para los familiares involucrados, en una práctica transformadora en cuanto a la reflexividad que propone sobre la condición social del muerto.In this paper we will show how the unveiling of the bust of Elbio Araujo, a soldier fallen in the Malvinas War, expresses the symbolic framework for interpretation of death in battle of a particular group, at the same time becoming for his relatives the stage for dramatization of a death that could not be dealt with in the usual manner due to the lack of a body. We will deal with the ritual from the point of view of performance, since it allows us to see the ways experiences are lived in specific scenes, through which the death of a person is inhabited and signified in a particular way. Therefore, we will show that through the unveiling of the bust, the lack of the body is replaced by a different materiality and that the performance acts not only as a communication channel through which the bereaved express their experiences and the meanings given to death in war to society at large, but also becomes, for the families involved, a transformative practice through the proposed reflexivity on the social status of the deceased.Fil: Panizo, Laura Marina. Sacred Source of Legitimation of the Malvinas war heroes

On April 2, 1982, the Argentine dictatorship (the self-appointed “Process of National Reorganization,”) decided to recover the Malvinas Islands for the country. Among Bodies: Reflections on Ethnographic Work and the Repercussions of Exhumations and Identifications of the Disappeared of the Last Military Dictatorship in Argentina

In this article, I will attempt to investigate the process of confronting death in the case of the disappeared of the last military dictatorship in Argentina. I reflect on how, based on the exhumation and identification of the body of a disappeared person, the social situation of the person can be reconstructed, causing structural changes within the family and other groups. I will therefore also talk about the reflections that the anthropologist generates during his or her interview process, and I will reflect on my own experiences in the field and the resonances produced by the intimate relationship that the anthropologist has with death through the inevitable contact that takes place among the bodies, both in the context of the exhumation and identification and in the rest of the fieldwork.Fil: Panizo, Laura Marina. A Simulation Tool for tccp Programs

The Timed Concurrent Constraint Language tccp is a declarative synchronous concurrent language, particularly suitable for modelling reactive systems. In tccp, agents communicate and synchronise through a global constraint store. It supports a notion of discrete time that allows all non-blocked agents to proceed with their execution simultaneously. In this paper, we present a modular architecture for the simulation of tccp programs. The tool comprises three main components. First, a set of basic abstract instructions able to model the tccp agent behaviour, the memory model needed to manage the active agents and the state of the store during the execution. Second, the agent interpreter that executes the instructions of the current agent iteratively and calculates the new agents to be executed at the next time instant. Finally, the constraint solver components which are the modules that deal with constraints. A characterisation of reliability tools for Software Defined Networks

Software Defined Network (SDN) is a new paradigm in networking that introduces great flexibility, allowing the dynamic configuration of parts of the network through centralised programming. SDN has been successfully applied in field networks, and is now being applied to wireless and mobile networks, generating Software Defined Mobile/Wireless networks (SDWNs). SDN can be also combined with Network Function Virtualization (NFV) producing a software network in which the specific hardware is replaced by general purpose computing equipment running SDN and NFV software solutions. This highly programmable and flexible network introduces many challenges from the point of view of reliability (or robustness), and operators need to ensure the same level of confidence as in previous, less flexible deployments. This paper provides a first study of the current tools used to analyse the reliability of SDNs before deployment and/or during the exploitation of the network. Most of these tools offer some kind of automatic verification, supported by algorithms based on formal methods, but they do not differentiate between fixed and mobile/wireless networks. In the paper we provide a number of classifications of the tools to make this selection easier for potential users, and we also identify promising research areas where more effort needs to be made.Universidad de Málaga. The war felt: ritual symbols among some relatives and former soldiers of the Falklands War

Partiendo de la experiencia de un grupo de ex combatientes y uno de familiares de caídos en la guerra de Malvinas, en este artículo intentaremos ver la manera en que con la puesta en escena de diferentes símbolos como el ―muñeco estaqueado‖ y la Virgen de Luján, se expresan diferentes creencias y maneras de recordar, sentir, revivir e interpretar aquellos acontecimientos traumáticos o experiencias de pérdida. Mediante un trabajo de campo que incluye entrevistas a ex combatientes y familiares, veremos cómo muchas veces se encuentra, cuando se visualizan formas muy distintas y opuestas de entender lo acontecido en la historia compartida del pasado reciente, una confrontación entre símbolos y sus significantes.Based on the experience of a group of former soldiers and a group of relatives of the Fallen in the Malvinas‘ War in this article we see through the staging of different symbols like the ―doll staking‖ and the Lujan Virgin, different beliefs and ways of remembering are expressed, feel, revive, represent those traumatic events or those experiences loss. PALOMAS COMO PAÑUELOS BLANCO

En el siguiente trabajo intento demostrar a través de la observación realizada en la marcha en conmemoración al 30 aniversariodel último golpe de Estado, de qué manera las Madres de Plaza de Mayo, fueron marcando su territorio frente a la multitud, ydelimitando un espacio de dolor y fractura en denuncia a la participación divergente. Considerando los trabajos realizados desde lasociología del conocimiento y la antropología simbólica, y haciendo una reflexión comparativa con otras sociedades, intentoentender a los Pañuelos Blancos como símbolos que neutralizan las ambigüedades y paradojas que trajo aparejada la ultimadictadura militar en la Argentina, y que por el alcance de su tradición significativa tienen un nivel de legitimación importante en lasociedad. A la vez, demostraré de qué manera estos pañuelos actúan como símbolos que reemplazan la materialidad del cuerpodel desaparecido participando en la constitución de las identidades

Los caminos del dolor: La desaparición y la muerte en todas sus dimensiones

En este trabajo propondré una definición antropológica de muerte como proceso social y a partir de allí, veremos los diferentes caminos que puede tomar el dolor a partir de la recuperación de los cuerpos. Estos pueden traer felicidad por poder acoger y cuidar a un familiar que había estado durante tantos años oculto y abandonado. Pueden reconvertir la representación sobre el tipo de sufrimiento del desaparecido a partir de los informes forenses. Pueden traer alivio y consuelo por la forma en la que son tratados por parte de los profesionales. Pueden también provocar padecimiento corporal por la reactivación del trauma. No obstante, lo que la recuperación del cuerpo permite en el enfrentamiento a la muerte en todas sus dimensiones es, por sobre todas las cosas, la recuperación de un cuerpo/sujeto que habilita la demostración corporal de los afectos, suspendida durante tantos años.Fil: Panizo, Laura Marina.
